1.2 kg gold belonging to BRS MLA Mahipal Reddy seized
ED seized 1.2 kg gold belonging to BRS MLA Goodem Mahipal Reddy in PMLA case. A money laundering case registered for illegal mining is under investigation.
The authorities seized gold worth around Rs 1 crore from the lockers registered in the name of the MLA at the State Bank of India branch in Patancheru. The ED investigation will also continue on the mining scam involving MLA’s brother G Madhusudhan Reddy and others.
The ED found that there were no receipts or documentation for the gold biscuits purchased by the MLA. The ED investigation revealed that the gold was not imported from the domestic market. The ED seized documents related to 100 real estate properties belonging to the MLA, his son Vikram Reddy, his brother Madhusudhan Reddy and various benami. The mobile phones of both the MLA and his son were seized for forensic examination. Investigation is being done on the basis of an FIR filed by the Patancheru police alleging illegal exploitation of metals and minerals worth 300 crores. MLA’s brother was previously arrested in this case. Once again the ED investigation is intensifying.
