Business : Leading tech company Apple is rapidly expanding its operations in India. Looking to increase the workforce significantly.
As a part of that, market experts predict that there is a possibility of large-scale recruitment by next year. It is expected to create 6 lakh jobs by March 2025.
Apple has given a report to the government on the activities undertaken to increase the workforce in the country. It explained that part of the business expansion will increase employment opportunities in the country. Apple wants to reduce its dependence on Chinese products. With this, it is expanding its business domestically. With this, 2 lakh people will be directly employed by March this year. 70 percent of them are women. 80,872 people are already directly employed by Apple’s contract manufacturers Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron.
84,000 people got direct jobs from Apple suppliers Tata Group, Salkamp, Matherson, Foxlink and ATL. Apple has become the largest company in creating blue-collar jobs. It has employed 1,65,000 people so far under the PLI scheme introduced in 2020. On the other hand, the production capacity of the iPhone unit set up in Tamil Nadu will be increased. This is likely to generate more jobs. The government estimates that for every direct job in the electronics industry, three additional indirect jobs will be created.
