Ranchi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused the Waqf Board of taking control of every land and property found as if it were their own. He said that the time has come to bring changes in the Waqf Board and amend the relevant law.
Addressing an election rally in Jharkhand’s Baghmara on Tuesday, Amit Shah said it has become a habit of the Waqf Board to take control of lands. He said that the Waqf Board is taking over the properties of the villagers in Karnataka and taking control of their lands as well as temple lands and farmers’ lands. “Now tell me…should changes be made in the Waqf Board? Amit Shah clarified that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi say that they are against the changes in the Waqf Board, but no matter what they say, the BJP will approve the bill to bring amendments to the Waqf Act and no one can stop it. Similarly, he said that the Common Civil Code (UCC) aimed at curbing intruders in Jharkhand will be strictly implemented. But he assured that the tribals would be included in that area. He made it clear that if BJP wins the assembly elections, Jharkhand will be made the richest state in the next five years, the money looted by JMP-Congress will be brought back, mineral-based industries will be set up in Jharkhand and people here will not migrate to other states, illegal immigrants from Jharkhand will be sent back. Polling for 81 assembly constituencies in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 23. The results will be out on November 23.
