Fashion Updates: Arvind Fashions would increase the retail presence of the US Polo Assn brand of apparels and accessories, aiming at the segment where fashion-minded Indians are taking to casual wear in large numbers. The various categories like women’s wear, footwear and inner wears would contribute to the growth of US Polo Assn.
“US Polo is the largest brand in our portfolio,” says Shailesh Chaturvedi, managing director of Arvind Fashions Limited, to India Retailing. “Close to Rs 2,000 crore was US Polo out of the total Rs 4,259 crore that the company earned last year. Why cannot it be a Rs 5,000 crore brand? That’s what we’re telling the world: let’s not put any boundaries on our thought, let it scale up, very aggressive and very ambitious behind US Polo brand. There is no limit to our ambition and how big this brand can be.
Arvind will look to inject growth into US Polo Assn by aggressively expanding with an omni-channel approach and opening new brick-and-mortar stores besides significantly increasing its online presence. Additionally, the brand is expected to launch many new products.
US Polo Assn has also increased its focus on the Indian market by partnering with the Maharaja of Jaipur and polo player Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh, popularly known as Pacho with whom the label has launched an exclusive collection. The label has also collaborated with actors and models Arjun Rampal, and Milind Soman in the past.
We decided this time to go more deep into the sport that we are known for, that is polo,” said Chaturvedi about the label’s partnerships. “And that’s why we launched this campaign with Maharaja Padmanabh Singh (Pacho) from Jaipur. We couldn’t find a better fit than a real authentic polo global player for our brand.”.
