Ayushman Card : The state and central governments are taking special measures to provide better health services to the poor and middle class people. Special schemes are being prepared for this.
As part of this, the central government launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) or Ayushman Bharat Scheme in 2018. Under this the Government of India provides health insurance to the people. Every eligible family will get free medical coverage of up to Rs.5 lakh per annum for hospital treatment, surgeries, medicines and tests.
Features of Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Documents required for Ayushman Card
To avail the benefit of Ayushman Bharat scheme, you need to take an Ayushman card. Some key documents are required to apply for this. Aadhaar, Ration Card, Voter ID required. SECC data proof should also be provided. If your name is listed in the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011, you will be eligible for the scheme. Bank passbook, mobile number, passport size photograph should also be provided.
Ayushman Card Eligibility
Your name must be present in SECC 2011 data. Also BPL or AAY ration card holders are eligible. Your family’s annual income should be less than Rs.5 lakh. You should not have health insurance under any other government scheme.
How to apply?
First open the official Ayushman Bharat website (https://pmjay.gov.in.). ‘Am I Eligible?’ Click on the option and select your state. Then enter your Aadhaar number or mobile number.

Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number and verify it. Fill your family details. Then upload the required documents. Submit the form and wait for confirmation. Once your application is approved, you can download your Ayushman card.

You will get cashless treatment up to Rs.5 lakh. It covers over 1,400 diseases and treatments. All transactions are done digitally. Covers expenses before and after hospitalization. A 24×7 helpline is available.
What to do if the Ayushman card is lost?
If you lose your Ayushman card, you can visit the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or contact an Ayushman Mitra to get a new one issued. Government has launched Ayushman App to help issue Ayushman Card. It has already been downloaded by 52 lakh people.
1,50,000 health and wellness centers
As part of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, 1,50,000 health and wellness centers are being set up across the country to provide better health services. Currently, there are 26,901 registered hospitals under this scheme. Of these there are 11,813 private hospitals.
