Bus catches fire, a tragic incident happened in the Jogulamba Gadwal district early on Saturday as a private bus, en route from Hyderabad to Chittoor, caught fire, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to four other passengers.
The distressing event occurred around 2:30 a.m. on the Hyderabad-Bangalore national highway near Erravalli crossroads. The Volvo bus, operated by a private travel company, overturned and burst into flames. Despite the chaotic situation, most of the 40-50 passengers managed to escape by breaking the bus’s glass windows.
However, one unfortunate woman became trapped in the fire and lost her life, succumbing to severe burns. Additionally, four passengers sustained injuries in the accident, with three of them receiving medical attention at a hospital in Gadwal, while the fourth was transported to Hyderabad.
In response to the emergency, a fire tender swiftly arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames. Despite their efforts, the bus was completely consumed by the fire. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the tragic incident. The police have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
