Business: As on July 31, 7.28 crore returns have been filed, according to the IT department. This is the highest so far. Nearly 50 lakh returns were filed this year as compared to last year’s 6.77 crore. 5.27 crore ITR has been filed in the new tax regime and 2.01 crore returns have been filed in the old system. Out of the total returns, 58.57 lakh have filed ITR for the first time.
