Andhra Pradesh latest news : The government is making arrangements to start canteens to satisfy the hunger of the poor on 15th of this month. 100 canteens will be made available in the first phase on Independence Day.
CM Chandrababu’s visit to Gudivada in Krishna district was finalized on August 15. The CM will inaugurate the canteen set up in the town. This program has been postponed in Uttar Andhra districts due to the notification of MLC elections. The government has decided to open canteens in selected 33 municipal and city bodies in the rest of the districts. Municipal Administration Minister Narayana discussed with the officials where and how many should be set up. These canteens will be fully available from 16th.

Minister Narayana inspected the Akshayapatra Kitchen in Atmakuru, Mangalagiri Mandal, Guntur District. Later, he told the media that the food distribution arrangements for the canteens have been examined. “In the past, we have set up 180 canteens across the state and provided 4.60 crore meals for Rs.5. We gave good food to the poor in a clean environment. But, when the Vaikapa government came, Anna canteens were closed. We decided to open canteens when the coalition government came. Akshaya Patra got the food distribution contract for Anna canteens. CM Chandrababu will inaugurate the Anna canteen at Gudivada on 15th of this month. The plan is to open 180 canteens in urban areas and more than 200 canteens in rural areas. We will set up at markets and hospitals where poor people frequent. “Akshayapatra’s kitchen is very modern and clean,” said the minister.
