Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin today (Saturday) reacted after a video of a restaurant owner apologizing to the Union Finance Minister over GST went viral.
Speaking on this occasion, he said that the way the Union Minister acted for making fair demands on GST is shameful. Also, it is very disappointing to see what happened to the person who spoke on GST. Further, the central government’s support has not yet been received.. Even yesterday (Friday), Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that we have received loan assistance.. But till now, the central government has not given even a single rupee, said Chief Minister Stalin.
Controversy arose after the Tamil Nadu BJP posted a video on social media in which the owner of Shree Annapurna Hotel in Coimbatore was apologizing to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. State BJP chief Annamalai apologized on behalf of the party for making the conversation between the restaurant owner and the finance minister public. Apologizes to Srinivasan, owner of Annapurna chain of restaurants.
Also, Srinivasan, who is also the president of the Tamil Nadu Hotel Owners Association, raised issues on GST in a meeting attended by the Finance Minister in Coimbatore on September 11. Showed differences in taxation of sweet and spicy food. Hotel owner Srinivasan stated that the customers often complained that five per cent GST was levied on sweets, 12 per cent on savouries and 18 per cent on buns with cream (there is no GST on buns).
