Andhra Pradesh Latest News : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting about ration rice distribution vehicles and Mobile Dispensary Units (MDUs) with Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar and other officials. The officials reported that MDUs are causing losses and may be discontinued. They pointed out that while these vehicles where supposed to transport rice from one door to another, they were observed to be delivering rice from street corners.
Minister Manohar said that previous government purchased 9,260 vehicles for this scheme, which cost Rs. 1,844 crores and these vehicles were mostly used for smuggling rice. Naidu has directed officials to look for a way for clearing the outstanding dues to do with the MDUs and expects to have a meeting soon on how best to utilize ration dealers.
