Latest Business News: Consumer goods maker Dabur India forecast a drop in its second-quarter revenue on Tuesday, as weak demand in its food and beverages segment stood out as the company’s first such quarterly decline in more than four years.
Dabur forecast a mid-single digit percentage fall in revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30, as “out of home” consumption got impacted by heavy rain and floods across parts of the country, it said.
The segment accounted for 14% of its total revenue, as reported in its annual report for the year ended March 2024. Countrywide rainfall in June through September was the highest since 2020, state-run weather department said Monday.
Data LSEG showed the last occasion Dabur reported a fall in the revenue was the June quarter in the year 2020. Operating margins are likely to decline in the mid-teens percent range because of high spends on advertisement and promotions, said the company.
International business, however, is expected by Dabur to grow in constant currency terms by a double-digit percentage; it contributes around a quarter of the revenue.
Dabur will announce its quarterly results on 30 October and has set the first ball rolling among its peers Marico, Godrej Consumer Products and Adani Wilmar to release their quarterly update.
