Delhi school holidays: The last week of November brought in an immense amount of happiness for the people of Delhi NCR. It also, however, brought in air which had nothing but smoke and pollution.
The impact of pollution was visible in the areas of Delhi NCR including Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram. The AQI in several areas of Delhi and Noida crossed the 400 mark and as a result there was a question whether the schools of Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram will reopen on time after Diwali vacation.
Here’s all you need to know about the school holidays in Delhi NCR.
Are schools in Delhi NCR open today?
The classes in schools, Delhi began from yesterday; however, most schools kept the morning assembly after their decision not to send kids outside since the city reeked of smog. The outdoor classes or fitness sessions have also been put on hold as yet. Still, some educational institutes are requesting the kids to wear masks. Parents are also being pushed to increase preventive measures, suggesting that their children stay indoors and away from playing outdoors for a few weeks.
For the first time ever, after Diwali last year, concerns about pollution led to the temporary closure of schools across the Delhi NCR region. Traditional education took a quick turn on to the online platform during this shutdown period.
School closure for Chhath Puja: For this year, the much-in-limelight Chhath Puja on 7th November will see yet again a few schools closing down, as the Delhi Chief Minister Atishi declared it a public holiday.
In most of the schools of Delhi NCR, students have been advised to wear masks. Besides this, to reduce the effect of pollution, outdoor activities and sports periods for children have also been stopped for the time being in most schools.
