The people around me, their status… My life has been connected with social aspects since I was aware of imagination. I am doing my duty to educate the elderly, stand by AIDS victims, teach vocational education to women… and support their progress. I became a part of environmental protection. This journey has been going on for decades. In recognition of all this, I recently received the prestigious ‘Dr. Sarojininaidu International Award’. This award is given annually to women who have rendered outstanding services in various fields across the world. It is jointly organized by ‘Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry, International Women’s Film Forum and AAFTY University’.
If it is enough… I am a girl like everyone else. If not, we can’t let go of why those around us are suffering. I have less idea of ’I’. The concept of ‘us’ is a bit more. If you have a heart to respond… I think anyone can help. But today I have noticed the trend of ‘I and my family are good enough’. If this award of mine can bring some change in such people… it will be good for the society.
It just started… The reason for this attitude of service in me… is the background in which I was brought up. My grandmother’s place is Guntur. I was born there. But it all grew in Hyderabad. My grandmother and Pinni used to work in women and child welfare department and adult education department. I grew up in that environment… When I was eight years old, I used to teach the elders around us. When I came to college, I became a part of adult education and other government programs. During my degree, I worked for AIDS victims. At that time a boy committed suicide. When I went to the hospital to see him… I saw that many people were using a single disposable injection needle. The stock of disposable needles given by the government is being sold outside. Such atrocities are the reason for the spread of viruses like AIDS. Many commit suicide without knowing how they got infected with the virus. I have initiated many programs with the aim of creating proper awareness about this. Surprisingly… all the girls in our class came forward despite our lecturers discouraging. Whenever the girls moved…from then the boys also joined us.
If you go to America… After graduation, I went to America for MBA. Later I settled there. Ours is the IT sector. I have lived in the US for almost a year. But I often come and go to India. Most of what is earned there is spent on service activities here. I currently have a company called ‘Midwest Greentech’ in America. It is a company dealing with solar and wind power equipment. Our company, which started as an IT company in 2001, has evolved into this over time.
For posterity… There is an important reason why I got into this field. I have always had a love for the environment. I adopted some villages in India and planted thousands of saplings in them. While explaining the benefits of trees, I am making the locals aware of the ill effects that can occur without them. We are using fossil fuels like petrol and coal indiscriminately for future generations. Alternative fuels such as water, air, solar etc. are widely available to us. Utilizing them and saving fossil fuels will be useful for future needs. It is with this idea that I set up the company ‘Midwest Greentech’.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t give property… My mission is to promote green energy. Already seeing… Delhi is suffocating with pollution. It’s not anyone who’s destroying the planet… it’s humans. The mountains of ice are melting with our destruction. Natural disasters happen. It doesn’t matter if we don’t give assets to the future generations… but we should be able to give a healthy environment. That will be a big boon for them. For that reason I prefer solar, wind and battery storage system. Some villages have been adopted in India as well as America.
Women Empowerment… I am constantly organizing various programs for education of children who have no background and empowerment of women from lower classes. We have set up a residential school for the children who were seen collecting papers and begging on the streets and near railway stations. I have adopted some children who have no parents. I will not sell them myself. The joy on their faces when they see me saying ‘We have a mother’ is priceless. They are very affectionate with me. Also, I taught women loom work, which is in demand, not like sewing. Because of that, a saree can be made in four to five days. I admitted many girls in colleges who could not afford it. I have sent some to foreign universities for higher education. I spent my own money on all this. No subscriptions were taken from anyone. Also… I do herbal research. The medicine developed with nano technology during the Corona period was given here for free, not in a business sense. I stayed in India for three years.
