Polling for US Elections has started in America. A few hours after the polling date (November 5) started, voting was also completed in a small county there.
The first result was at Dixville Notch in the state of New Hampshire. While there were six voters in total, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris got three votes and Republican candidate Donald Trump got three votes. In 2020, the voters of Dixville Notch favored the Democratic candidate Joe Biden. It is remarkable that he won that election.
Dixville Notch is a place on the US-Canada border. Here four voters are registered on behalf of the Republican Party while two others are not registered on behalf of any party. Soon after the election day (US Election Day) they all gather at the local Balsams Hotel.
They exercise their right to vote after singing the national anthem. After 15 minutes of voting, the results will be announced. Since 1960, the tradition of exercising the right to vote at midnight continues here. Due to this, Dixville Notch became known as the first place in the country to give results in the US presidential election.
