Greater Hyderabad, the number of people who traveled by metro train is being recorded at a record level after the Vinayaka Utsavas have reached a crucial stage. The number of passengers is crossing the five lakh mark every day.
This traffic is further increased by the visitors of Khairatabad Ganesh. A total of 94,000 footfalls were registered at Khairatabad metro station on Saturday alone, while 39,000 people boarded the metro train and 55,000 people got off the train at these stations, Metro officials say.
Metro stations will be jammed with passengers in the wake of the Khairatabad Mahaganapati immersion and Ganesh Shobhayatra on Tuesday, as a large number of people will flock to Hussain Sagar. Hyderabad Metro has decided to run special trains till midnight for two days from Tuesday. In this regard, HMRL MD NVS Reddy, L&T Metro CMD KVB Reddy and other senior officials met on Sunday and discussed the special arrangements.
He said that additional police and private security personnel have been deployed at Khairatabad and Lakdikapool metro stations and additional ticket counters and additional trains will be run at some metro stations depending on the demand. It is stated that the existing Thanga Metro Rail operations will resume at 6 am on the 18th. Passengers are requested to cooperate with Metro Rail security personnel and other personnel for their safety as well as safe journey.
