Andhra Pradesh latest news : After coming to power for the third time, the NDA government has given priority to AP. Railways have taken a decision by increasing the allocation in the budget.
Recently, the Union Cabinet approved the construction of eight new railway lines. This decision was taken in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi. These will be undertaken in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal with an estimated cost of Rs.24,657 crore.
New railway line
As part of the new project, a 200.60 km long new line will be constructed from Malkangiri in Odisha to Pandurangapuram via Bhadrachalam at a cost of Rs 4,109 crore. Once this becomes a reality, railway connectivity will increase from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to the eastern and northeastern states. Coal supply from Mahanadi coalfield to power plants in Central and South India will be easy. Aluminum and iron ore industries will also benefit. The market for agricultural products of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will expand.

This route will contribute to the social and economic development of East Godavari in Andhra Pradesh and Bhadradri-Kottagudem districts in Telangana. A new route to the coast becomes available during natural calamities. From South Odisha, Bastar region, the distance decreases by 124 km to the south. 1,697 hectares of land has to be acquired for the construction of this railway line. Bhadradri shrine is well connected to various parts of the country by rail. 900 km of new lines will be made available in seven states through eight projects approved by the central government.
A total of 64 new railway stations will be constructed. Due to these lines running across 510 villages and 14 districts, two crore people will be connected by railway. An additional 140 million tonnes of cargo can be transported annually. The Railway Minister revealed that the target has been set to complete these within five years. He said that once these lines are made available, the import of oil will be reduced by 32.20 crore liters and carbon emissions will be reduced by 0.87 million tonnes. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav explained that it is equivalent to planting 3.5 crore trees.
