Goodbye Yellow Bird.. Koo app is closing!
The era of Koo App, a domestic social media platform that was thought to compete with Twitter at one time, is over. Since then, the operation of the app has stopped. The company’s co-founder Radhakrishna disclosed the fact that Koo App has been closed through LinkedIn. It was announced that this decision was taken after negotiations with various companies, including Dailyhunt, for the sale of Koo App failed.
Koo App was launched in 2019. Aprameyya Radhakrishna and Mayankar Bidawatka jointly designed this app with emphasis on local languages. This app is available in more than ten languages. Koo app became very popular during the peasant movement. There was a dispute between the Center and Twitter regarding the blocking of many accounts during the Rythu movement. Then there should be an alternative to Twitter.. The central government also promoted the app. Union Ministers themselves promoted it as Atmanirbhar app. Moreover, the fact that the logo of the Coo app also resembles a Twitter quail is a plus. While Twitter has a blue quail logo, Coo app has a yellow bully quail logo. This Bullipitta is also well connected with people. This went down well with the masses. At one stage the app had 21 lakh daily active users. Koo app also has more than 60 million downloads at present.
With the increasing popularity of the Koo app, it has expanded its operations to countries like Nigeria and Brazil in addition to India. But the company could not sustain the craze they got for a long time. Within a short period of time, Koo Yap faced financial difficulties. There was a situation where employees could not even be paid salaries. Due to this, jobs were also removed in the name of layoffs this year. Radhakrishna and Mayankar held discussions with several companies including Dailyhunt to re-establish this domestic app. But as none of them were successful, Little Yellow Bird revealed on LinkedIn that it is saying goodbye.
