Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao has expressed anger over the halt in cotton purchases across the state. The Minister posted on the X platform that the Congress government is acting negligently. It is regrettable that the negligence of the Congress government in the matter of procurement has become a curse for the cotton farmers who have already lost their yield due to untimely rains. He said that the credit of bringing the farmers of Telangana to the plight of not being able to sell the crop grown after hard work in the fields, even at the minimum support price, goes to the Congress party. It is a shame if the state ginning and mill owners announce that they will not buy cotton in protest against the stance of the CCI and the state government, but do not make the minimum effort to solve the problem.
If the cotton farmers are going to work on the roads, it is as if there is no government in the state, he asked. Nathude, who cares, said that the cotton farmers are suffering due to the laxity and lack of coordination of the state marketing department. The Ministers who posed for the photos of setting up cotton buying centers questioned why they were silent. He expressed his anger that the farmers’ lives are being interfered with at this time when the crop has arrived. How many days do the farmers have to wait for the cotton lorry loads that have reached the mills? He asked if the Chief Minister and Ministers who have time to participate in the election campaigns of neighboring states do not have time to care about farmers’ problems. He deposed that there is no time to go to Delhi and appeal to CCI officials regarding the relaxation of moisture content and new rules. On behalf of the BRS party, Harish Rao posted on X that the state government should immediately put pressure on the center regarding other regulations including humidity and ensure that purchases are made in all purchasing centers.
