On Friday, the High Court ordered police not to start the arrest process for B.S. Yediyurappa, a senior BJP leader and former chief minister of Karnataka. This gave Yediyurappa a temporary reprieve from arrest. Yediyurappa was told by the bench, presided over by Justice Krishna S. Dixit, to come into court on Monday, as per his response to the police summons.

Yediyurappa was represented by senior attorney C.V. Nagesh, who stated that Yediyurappa complied with the initial investigation notices in the case, which was filed in March. After another warning, he asked for more time. The attorney contended that the warrant was issued out of personal grudge.

The court directed police to continue their investigation, emphasizing that arrests should not be the first priority for an investigation. It declined to make any decisions regarding stopping or dismissing the case, postponing the proceedings for two weeks.

A complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act was filed against Yediyurappa in March. A woman allegedly reported that when her daughter went to the former CM’s house for help, she was harassed.
