Washington: Industrialist Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar, founder Republican Hindu Coalition, expressed delight and gratification over President-Elect Donald Trump’s decisive victory in the 2024 US Presidential election.
As he talks to ANI, Kumar further states, “The strength of support for Trump largely lies among Hindu Americans. Our party is most elated about the fact that the victory was not just a thousand votes. The victory was hundreds of thousands of votes in every place.”
President Elect Donald Trump returned to the White House after a bitterly divisive campaign that saw the issues settle on the economy, immigration, and law enforcement and has touched so many working-class voters. It is a win that goes down in the books as Trump is only the second US president to return office after previously facing defeat.
Politico observed that the effective campaign “fueled broad discontent with Washington and urgency about the future course of the nation.”.
Mr. Kumar said part of the reason for Trump’s triumph is a targeted campaign during the final stages specifically targeting Hindu American voters, particularly in the battleground states. “It was our objective to at least flip over 200,000 Hindu votes from Kamala to Trump in battleground states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and that’s what took place,” he said.
Kumar attributed the swing to a critical tweet on Diwali, which, he mentioned, “changed everything” and facilitated a targeted media push. “We were able to disseminate the information to the Hindu Americans about who Kamala really is. She is only half Hindu. and she’s friendly towards [leftist ideologies], that’s for sure,” he added, emphasizing his opinion that Harris’s political philosophy was “very much to the left.”
Kumar said the coalition’s ads covered 900 media buys over five days to get the word out to Hindu Americans about what she represented: “We also highlighted the fact that she is a Marxist. and a communist sympathizer.”
“It properly positioned him to win over the Hindu American vote to give the Republican Party a great victory,” Kumar estimated.
