India, who are struggling for a result in the ongoing Kanpur Test against Bangladesh, have created a record in the history of cricket.
Team India has set an all-time record as the only team in Test cricket history to score 50 runs in less than three overs. This record was made possible by the destruction of Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma. A new history was recorded with T20 style batting. Moreover, Team India rewrote the record in its name as the team that scored 100 runs in the fastest time.
In the first innings of the second Test, Bangladesh were bowled out for 233 runs. Mominul Haq (107 not out; 194 balls, 17 fours, 1 six) scored an unbeaten century. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto (31; 57 balls, 6 fours) was the second top scorer. Among the Indian bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah (3/50) exploded with three wickets. Mohammad Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin and Akash Deep took two wickets each. Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket.
With Varun’s brilliance on the first day, only 35 overs were played, and the second day and the third day were cancelled without a single ball being bowled.. Bangladesh started the game today with an overnight score of 107/3 and scored another 126 runs and lost the last seven wickets. But with only four sessions remaining in the second Test, Team India started the innings aggressively.
Jaiswal scored 12 runs with a hat-trick of boundaries in the first over bowled by Hasan Mohammed. In the second over, captain Rohit Sharma, who received the strike, smashed the first two balls of Khalid Ahmed into huge sixes. Jaiswal came into the crease after the bowler got scared and threw the ball to the other side of the league and gave a bye. Jaiswal also scored a boundary in this over and scored 17 runs. In the third over, Rohit-Jaiswal scored 22 runs together. With that, India achieved a record score of 51/0 in 3 overs.
Rohit hit a six in the third over bowled by Hasan Mohammed, while Jaiswal hit a six and two boundaries. With that, India wrote a new history as the fastest team to score 50 runs in terms of balls in Tests. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma (23; 11 balls, 1 four, 3 sixes) was dismissed in the fourth over bowled by Mehdi Hasan in an attempt to play aggressively. Earlier this record was held by England. England reached the 50-run mark in 26 balls.
