He said that he was aware of the disaster situation. “I witnessed a disaster for myself 45–47 years ago, there was a dam in Morbi, Gujarat. The entire city of Morbi was submerged in 10–12 feet of water as it was washed away by heavy rains. More than 2,500 people have died. I stayed there for 6 months as a volunteer. I can understand the hardships of the people of Wayanad. I assure you that the country and the center will be behind them,” he stated.
He also said that he spoke to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on the morning of the day of the Wayanad disaster. I have promised to support you in every possible way. NDRF, SDRF, Army, police, and doctors reached out to the victims as soon as possible.
He said the Centre will support the Kerala government so that the work does not stop due to lack of funds. “I met the families of the victims and the dreams of the people were shattered by the disaster.” he concerned.
