ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (Women’s T20 World Cup 2024) will be held from October 3 to 20 at the UAE venue. BCCI has announced a 15-member Indian squad for this mega tournament.
Harmanpreet Kaur continued as captain and opener Smriti Mandhana as vice-captain. If wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia and all-rounder Shreyanka Patil get fit, they will go to UAE with the team. Uma Chhetri, Tanuja Kanwar and Saima Thakur have been selected as traveling reserves.
Originally, this World Cup was to be held in Bangladesh. However, the ICC decided to hold this tournament in the UAE due to the turbulent situation in the background of the transfer of power there. A total of 10 teams are divided into two groups. Each team in the group plays one match against the other teams. The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the semis. Group A includes India, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka. Group B includes South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Scotland.
India will face New Zealand on October 4, Sri Lanka on October 9 and Australia on October 13. The long time rivals India and Pakistan match will be held on October 6 in Dubai. There is a reserve day for the semi-finals on October 17 and 18 and the final on October 20. If India reaches the semis, they will face each other in the first semi-final.
