Andhra Pradesh latest news : Senior advocate Siddhartha Luthra, on behalf of the police, argued in the High Court that former Additional AG Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy, sitting next to him, was answering the questions asked to former minister Jogi Ramesh during the investigation regarding the case of mass attack on TDP chief Chandrababu’s house in 2021.
The court was asked to examine the video related to that. This video is the proof that they are not cooperating with the investigation. ‘They responded to only one of three notices to come for investigation. Power was misused during YSRCP’s reign. Now they are abusing the court orders and getting protection from arrest. When asked about the details of the cell phone, SIM number, IMEI number, phone bills, etc. used during the attack, Jogi Ramesh answered most of the questions by saying ‘I don’t know, I don’t remember‘. They refused to hand over the phones to the police.
Senior advocate Ponnavolu, who is arguing in Jogi Ramesh’s bail petition in the High Court, is obstructing the police investigation by attending the Jogi. It was never seen in the past that the accused had his lawyer by his side and answered the questions asked by the police during the investigation. The conspiracy behind the attack on Chandrababu’s house needs to be resolved.
The YSRCP government misused its power.. In the case of the attack on Chandrababu Babu, short sections were put in place at that time. SC and ST cases were registered against the then opposition leaders and victims. The investigation was dropped. In this regard, we have produced the case diary with evidence before the court. If the bail is granted at the present stage when the investigation is actively going on, it will hinder the process,’ he said.
Taking into account Jogi Ramesh’s conduct, the anticipatory bail petition filed by him was sought to be dismissed. As the arguments on behalf of the police ended, the hearing was adjourned to Friday for the reply arguments on behalf of the petitioner. The earlier interim order providing protection from arrest was extended till Friday. High Court judge Justice VRK Kripasagar gave an order to this effect on Thursday. The judge examined the video submitted by the police to the court.
