Indian stock market: Domestic stock market indices ended with huge gains. Markets started with losses in the morning and later recovered strongly.
While the Sensex rallied around 1100 points from the intraday lows, the Nifty closed above 24,200. Buying support in metal, financial, banking and auto stocks joined the indices. With this, the indices recovered from yesterday’s heavy losses.
The Sensex opened the morning lower at 78,542.16 points (previous close 78,782.24). It touched an intraday low of 78,296.70. Finally it moved higher due to buying support. Finally ended at 79,476.63 with a gain of 694.39 points. Nifty also gained 217 points to settle at 24,213.30. The rupee ended flat at 84.11 against the dollar.
Shares of JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, Indus Ind Bank and State Bank of India gained in the Sensex. Shares of Adani Ports, ITC, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints and Infosys lost. In the international market, the price of a barrel of Brent crude oil continues at 75.53 dollars. Gold is trading at 2747 dollars an ounce.
