Latest News in India: Strongly condemning the BJP, junior doctors at R.G. Kar Medical College said the protest movement has been exploited for political mileage by the party.
Doctors, who have led a massive protest there clearly said that the movement would not be allowed to be exploited for political agenda and who have supported the rapists in incidents like Hathras, Kathua, and Unnao.
The junior doctors said, “Those who garlanded rapists in Hathras, Kathua, and Unnao, if they think they can use this protest to seize power, the public will not allow it.” Their statement was a direct retort to some recent remarks made by BJP leaders like Dilip Ghosh and Ashok Dinda, who had accused the protesting doctors of selfish motives.
The protest, which began at R.G. Kar Medical College, has grown into a “mass civil movement” for the junior doctors. They thanked the people of Bengal for their support – they said public involvement ensured that the movement moved forward. The doctors also demanded speedy disposal of the case at the Supreme Court level in the matter of R.G. Kar.
At the press conference, they declared that due to some sudden development, they would be shifting the venue for the mass convention to be held on September 27. Scheduled to take place at Dhanadhanya Auditorium, the event will now be conducted in the auditorium of SSKM Hospital. The change in venues comes after the last-moment cancellation of the permission given to them earlier by Mayor Firhad Hakim for holding the convention at Dhanadhanya Auditorium without anybody stating any particular reason why.
The protesting doctors reiterated that their movement was and would remain free of divided politics, an assertion that they had been making from the very beginning in answer to charges that they had compromised on this count by embracing politics.
