The water level of Godavari at Bhadrachalam is gradually increasing due to the rains falling all over Telangana and the flood water coming from the upper areas.
At 4 pm on Wednesday, the water level was recorded at 44.1 feet. The authorities have issued the first danger warning. District Collector Jitesh Patil announced that the people of the lowland areas should be alert.
Fishermen and boatmen are advised not to go near the river bends. Traffic was stopped on the Godavari barrage at Bhadrachalam. Officials of the Central Water Resources Department say that the water level will rise at Bhadrachalam as the flood water is still coming from the upper areas. As the water level rose at Bhadrachalam, most of the steps in the bathhouse area were submerged in flood water. If the water level rises further, there is a possibility of flood water reaching the roads.
