New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry (MHA) has taken a crucial decision regarding the security of BJP chief and leader of the opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari. Till now, ‘JD’ category security was provided to him only up to West Bengal, but now that security has been extended to the entire country. With this, wherever he goes in the country, the ‘JD’ category security will be provided. MHA has taken this decision based on the latest report given by the Intelligence Bureau that the threat to Suvendu Adhikari’s life has increased.
Suvendu Adhikari, who is a key leader in the BJP, was earlier given the ‘JD’ category security, but it was restricted to West Bengal. Anywhere across the state, there was less security than ‘Y Plus’. The VIPs of the country are provided maximum security of the JD category. According to the latest security arrangements for Suwa, he will be accompanied by six to seven armed CPPF commandos, a pilot vehicle, and an escort vehicle. This extensive security covers his travels, residential areas, office, and other key locations. Suvendu Adhikari left the Trinamool Congress party and joined the BJP in 2020. He is said to have expanded security keeping in mind the possibility of threats to opposition leaders due to political uncertainty in West Bengal.
Suvendu Adhikari expressed happiness over MHA’s decision to expand its security across the country. He said that this action would rob him of his ability to perform his political duties properly and continue his public service without any fear of security. He thanked his followers and party ranks for supporting him in this direction.
