Latest news India : Prime Minister Modi, who was at loggerheads with YCP before the coalition government was formed in AP, changed his route during the election . YS Jagan was estranged when BJP teamed up with TDP and Janasena alliance.
Its effect is now visible in the Parliament. The YS Jagan-led YCP, which has four MPs in the Lok Sabha and 11 MPs in the Rajya Sabha, has now knelt on a crucial bill. Due to this, Prime Minister Modi had to change his route.
The NDA government at the Center has unexpectedly introduced the Waqf Act Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha to benefit from the upcoming elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. However, this was opposed by parties like YCP, BJD and MIM, which are not part of the NDA alliance, along with the opposition India alliance. As a result, the center became cramped. Finally, a decision was taken by sending this bill to the Joint Parliamentary Committee for consideration. At first it was thought that only the opposition of political rivals was behind this decision. But what happened was different.
YCP and BJD also supported most of the bills brought by Modi government in the Lok Sabha in the past, even though they were not in any alliance. But with the recent decisions of BJP in AP and Odisha elections, now these two parties have turned against BJP. In this context, YCP opposed the Waqf Bill which was tabled in the Lok Sabha yesterday. However, there is no problem for NDA in Lok Sabha. But in the Rajya Sabha, the NDA is 12 MPs away from the majority. At the same time, YCP with 11 MPs and BJD with 9 MPs, which had supported them several times in the past, left. Regardless of BJD’s situation, without YCP’s support, it will be difficult to pass the Waqf Bill in the Rajya Sabha. That is why the Center has strategically folded its hands by sending this bill to the JPC until the Rajya Sabha elections.
