Nara Lokesh, the Minister for Human Resources, IT, and Electronics, hosted a review meeting with senior officials from the Education Department at his Undavalli residence today. The discussions primarily focused on enhancing educational infrastructure and addressing issues such as student dropout rates.

Nara Lokesh emphasized the urgency of implementing reforms within the education system. He directed officials to ensure full infrastructure readiness in schools within a year. One of the key decisions announced was to supply textbooks, notebooks, and backpacks to students in government intermediate colleges by July 15, highlighting concerns over previous lapses in providing these essential items.

Addressing ongoing and past phases of work, Lokesh stressed the need for timely completion. He reviewed the quality of midday meals in government schools and requested a detailed report on improving their taste and nutritional standards from the director of the midday meal scheme.

Further directives included studying sanitation policies from other states and learning from initiatives by the Delhi government. He also instructed a comprehensive analysis of student transfers from government to private schools over the last five years, aiming to understand reasons behind these movements.

Lokesh tasked the Libraries Director with identifying best practices nationwide and providing a review. Additionally, he sought detailed reports on the use of educational content from Byju’s and the integration of IFB usage. Plans for CBSE schools, preparations for the upcoming 10th-grade exams for 82,000 students, and training programs for students were also discussed.

Moreover, Lokesh ordered an audit of bicycles purchased during the previous TDP government, emphasizing transparency in future teacher transfers and efficient utilization of central funds.

The meeting included Principal Secretary of School Education Praveen Prakash, Commissioner of Board of Intermediate Education Saurabh Gaur, Commissioner of School Infrastructure Bhaskar Katamaneni, State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao, Director of Midday Meal Scheme Ambedkar, Director of Adult Education Nidhi Meena, and Director of Public Libraries Prasanna Kumar Reddy, among others.
