Andhra Pradesh latest news : NDRF teams have reached Vijayawada to take relief measures in the wake of heavy rains and floods. 3 NDRF teams have arrived from Tamil Nadu, 4 from Punjab and 3 from Odisha.
They came with power boats and rescue equipment. Already 8 NDRF and 10 SDRF teams are participating in the relief operations in NTR district. Helicopters are involved in air rescue operations. Soon 4 more helicopters will come to Vijayawada. Disaster Management Organization Managing Director Ronanki Kurmanath said that people should not panic. It is advised to stay away from overflowing streams, canals, roads, culverts and man holes.
The second danger alert is ongoing at Prakasam Barrage
A second emergency alert continues at Prakasam Barrage. 11.38 lakh cusecs of water is being released from the barrage. 500 cusecs are being released to the canals. A total of 70 gates are being opened and water is being released into the sea. The water level at the barrage continues to be 24.3 feet.
