Devotees entering through one of the gates at Puri's Jagannath Temple

On Thursday, the four entrance gates of the Jagannath Temple in Puri were opened to devotees, fulfilling the election promise made by the BJP government in Odisha. Along with his ministers and party leaders, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made sure that the temple’s gates were open to visitors.

CM Majhi explained that many devotees were upset about the gates being closed. He said that the government chose to open them after the morning rituals in response to these concerns and with Lord Jagannath’s approval.

He also gave his word that the government would try to find solutions for other problems pertaining to running the temple. While at the temple, CM Majhi and his ministers observed the idols of Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra and strolled around the shrine.

Up to this point, Coronavirus kept fans from entering anyplace other than the fundamental Lion door. The BJP had guaranteed in its political decision proclamation to open the Jagannath Sanctuary’s all’s entryways when it came to control in Odisha, a commitment it had made to fans and sanctuary laborers on a few events during the past Biju Janata Dal government.
