Dates of Parliament Winter Session have been finalized. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Tuesday that the meetings will begin from November 25.
He said that these meetings will continue till December 20. To this extent, President Draupadi Murmu has given approval to the government’s proposal to convene both houses of Parliament.
Similarly, on the occasion of 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution on November 26, Kiran Rijuju said that a special joint session of the Parliament will be held on that day. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly passed our Constitution in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan in New Delhi. Until now November 26 was celebrated as National Justice Day. But it is known that the central government has declared November 26 as the Constitution Day from 2015 to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Constitution maker Dr. BR Ambedkar.
Hon’ble President, on the recommendation of Government of India, has approved the proposal for summoning of both the Houses of Parliament for the Winter Session, 2024 from 25th November to 20th December, 2024 (subject to exigencies of parliamentary business). On the other hand, it is known that Jamili elections, Waqf Amendment Bill etc. are going to come before the House in this winter session. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already announced that the Waqf Amendment Bill will be approved in these meetings. He also mentioned this issue during the election campaign of Gurugaon. On the other hand, the opposition parties are strongly opposing Jamili elections and Waqf Amendment Bill-2024. With this, there is a possibility of a heated debate between the opposition and members of the ruling NDA alliance in Parliament.
