Latest Cricket News: Legends League Cricket 2024 in India has seen numerous cricketing icons regain the limelight once again. One such moment was when Suresh Raina met old international umpire Billy Bowden. Together they recreated Bowden’s characteristic ‘crooked finger’ dismissal that saw many views, echoing the nostalgia of many cricket viewers. As with his quirky style, he got pretty hilarious while celebrating the bond between relationships between players and umpires.
This lighthearted repartee recalled a famous cricketing moment in a 2013 ODI match between India and New Zealand where Raina had playfully imitated a gesture from Bowden when they had a tiff on the field. The friendship portrayed showed off some of the lighter sides of cricket that the fans liked.
Raina was the pick for Toyam Hyderabad in the last match on September 22 against Gujarat Greats, which was played at Barkatullah Khan Stadium, Jodhpur. Roaring to 44 off just 27 balls, Raina took the crease at No. 5 and started normally before letting loose to go hard out into his aggressive style. He gave away an energetic treat to the crowd, especially in the 10th over, which was full of two fours by his favorite run John Mooney.
Despite Raina’s gallant batting, Toyam Hyderabad could post 172/7 in their 20 overs. Again, the side failed upfront, as Chadwick Walton with 17, and George Worker with 13 could not provide a flier of a start. An unbeaten Peter Trego with 36 could not save the day for Gujarat Greats as they chased the target pretty comfortably by eight wickets. Raina’s match-winning innings weren’t enough to win him the game; however, his innings surely added drama to the league.
