Andhra Pradesh latest news : State Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar said that the ration mafia has turned Kakinada into an adda for five years and has exported poor people’s rice to foreign countries in the name of broken and boiled rice.
He clarified that illegal activities in Kakinada port will be stopped. He held a meeting with port workers, transporters and exporters at Kakinada Collectorate on Tuesday. Later, he inspected the check post at Kakinada Anchorage port and spoke to the media. During the inspections on June 28 and 29 this year, 51,427 tons of rice were seized, out of which 26,488 tons of PDS traces were found. Bank guarantees for Rs 165 crore will be taken from them. He clarified that the investigation is going on and arrests will be made after issuing 41A notices.
After discussing with the Chief Minister to the CID
Minister Nadendla Manohar opined that Kakinada Anchorage Port was established neither for one family nor for one’s business. They said that they are blackmailing that they will go to another port after setting up a check post at the port, but there is no threat. He commented that he knows how to block it. After the completion of the police investigation and clarity on some issues, a decision will be taken after discussing with the Chief Minister whether the case should be handed over to the CID or whether the investigation should be conducted with another agency.
Setting up of additional check posts
Minister Manohar said that inspections will continue across the state. The minister said that the association has expressed concern that lorries, barges and ships are being stopped due to delay in inspections and two more check posts will be set up without waiting for long. Kakinada City MLA Vanamadi Kondababu, State Civil Supplies Corporation MD Veerapandyan, Kakinada District Collector Shanmohan and other officials accompanied the minister.
