Jammu and Kashmir Elections : Tight security arrangements have been made for the second phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir. Polling for 26 seats will be held today. Gadarbal, Garibbal, Budgam and Beerwa are the assembly seats.
Tight security arrangements have been made in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the second phase of polling on Wednesday (September 25). Elections for 26 assembly seats in 6 districts will be held on Wednesday from 7 am to 6 pm. 25.78 lakh voters will decide the fate of 239 candidates in this phase.
Officials have set up 3,502 polling stations with webcasting for a fair and transparent voting process. Strict security arrangements have been made for the second phase of polling. The names of many prominent candidates have been included in the second phase of the election. It includes the names of former chief minister Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina and state Congress president Tariq Hamid Karra.
These include Block (ST), Gadarbal, Garibbal, Khanyar, Habbakadal, Lal Chowk, Channapora, Jadibal, Eidga. Central Shalteng, Budgam, Beerwa, Khansahib, Charar-e-Sharif, Chadura, Gulabgarh (ST), Reasi, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi, Kalakote-Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajsauri (ST), Budhal (ST), Thannamandi (ST), Surankot (ST), Poonch Haveli Mendhar (ST) power zones are there.
Srinagar District Magistrate Bilal Muhi Uh Din said that preparations for the second phase of voting have been completed. Tight security arrangements have been made around the polling stations. The voting percentage is expected to be good. Young voters in particular will come out and vote because Wednesday is a very special day to strengthen democracy, he said.
Meanwhile, in the first phase of assembly elections held on September 18, more than 61 percent voting was recorded in 24 constituencies. Bumper voting is likely to be recorded in the second phase as well.
