Lifestyle Update: If you are going to sell your old smartphone then be carefull. One mistake can keep you behind the bars. You might end up in jail even without doing any wrong thing.
Nowadays, buying new smartphones has been gaining momentum. Nowadays most people use their phones for one or two years and then buy a new phone. They either give the old phone to a friend or family member or sell it in the market. At the time of selling, one does not know what the other person does and what all he can do with the phone. This even leads to the jails for the seller. Let’s let you know what you should avoid while selling or buying the phone.
There may be jail
Suppose you sold your old smartphone to someone and that phone was used for some wrong purpose. Maybe threatening messages were sent by that phone to someone, or it was used for some big fraud. And in such a case, directly the police will reach your home by tracking the IMEI number of that phone.
Since the phone is still registered in your name, the police can hold you guilty of this crime. It doesn’t matter that you have sold the phone and you don’t have any legal evidence to prove that you have sold the phone. So you won’t be able to prove yourself innocent and you may end up going to jail in such a case. Always be sure to have legal proof.
Your ‘Sale Agreement’ on a stamp paper is very important to be prepared before you sell your smartphone. All the details of you and the buyer should be cited, with their IMEI number of the phone, model number of the phone, the date of sale and the mode of payment. This saves you from all sorts of legal problems.
If you have the legal proof, then you needn’t worry. If you are not willing to go for a court trial then get a seller buyer agreement.
