Swag Review: Sreevishnu has created a unique image for himself as a hero in Tollywood with concept oriented storylines. Sreevishnu’s Swag Movie released in theaters on Friday, opting for another different plot.
Meera Jasmine played a key role in this movie starring Ritu Varma as the heroine. Produced by People Media Factory, this movie is directed by Hasit Goli. Did the Swag movie please the audience? Or? That is?
The story of the heirs of Swaganika Vamsa…
Bhavbhuti (Srivishnu) retires from working as an SI. His wife Revathi (Meera Jasmin) goes away from him due to selfishness. Bhavabhuti develops hatred towards all women because of Revathi. Bhavabhuti receives a letter regarding the inheritance of Swaganika Vamsa.
Bhavbhuti, who went to Vamsa Vriksha Nilayam for a property worth crores of rupees, sees Singha (Sree Vishnu) and Senga (Ritu Varma) who came there with such a letter. Who was Vibhuti (Sri Vishnu) who sent these letters to them? Who among these three got the prized property? What did Yayati (Sri Vishnu) do so that Bhavabhuti and Singala did not get the property?
What is the story of Rukmini Devi (Ritu Varma), the queen of the Vinjamara dynasty who dominated men 1551 years ago? What did Bhavabhuti (Sri Vishnu), the patriarch of Swaganika, do to uphold the patriarchal system? How did Vibhuti come into this story? Who finally got the Swaganika Vamsa Nidhi? That is the story of Swag movie.
In the background of gender discrimination…
Gender discrimination has been going on in the society for generations. Director Hasit Goli directed Swag movie by adding comedy and emotions to the point that transgenders are also human beings along with men and women.
The swag story is an old one. Some Telugu movies have come out with the point discussed in this movie. Magic happens on screen only when directors have the knack of retelling old stories. Such magic is found in swag.
Starting the story with today’s generation and showing flashbacks of each generation, the film progresses to the time of the kings. Twists that link stories beyond audience expectations are thrilling. With a side smile, he said the message he wanted to convey in a convincing manner.
Comedy plus emotions…
If you see the trailer and teaser of the movie and think it is an out and out entertainment movie, you are mistaken. The director, who limited the comedy to the first half of the film, made the second half emotional. In the second half, the story felt slow at some places and Sree Vishnu tried to remove that feeling with comedy timing. The dialogues written by Hasith in Telugu are impressive.
Nice idea but…
It is not easy to present such an idea on screen in a way that the audience can understand. In this matter the director is confused at some places. The film seems to be confused with the generations, the flashbacks of the heroines and the relationships between them. If understood, the audience will like the movie. Any confusion makes the whole movie feel messy.
Five roles of Actor Vishnu
Swag can be said to be a very tough movie in Sreevishnu’s career. Sree Vishnu appeared in five roles and seven getups in this movie. Sree Vishnu’s effort to show variations in terms of look, dialogue delivery, mannerisms between them is visible in every frame. Ritu Varma is misogynistic. Her performance in another role is good. Swag is the foundation of Meera Jasmine’s second innings in Telugu.
Acting has settled into a character with scope. Ravi Babu, Goparaju Ramana, Sunil and Getup Srinu worked out in the first half of the comedy. Daksha Nagarkar dazzles with glamour. Vivek Sagar’s music is a plus for this movie. Without feeling like watching a small movie, People Media Factory has made a swag movie without compromising on the budget. Production values are good.
A new experience…
Swag offers a new experience completely different from regular commercial movies. You can watch this movie for the acting of Sree Vishnu and Ritu Varma.
