Bank holiday in September 2024 : Banks have become a part of people’s daily activities. There is probably no one who has not visited banks and ATMs.
Some surveys make it clear that 95 percent of the people have used the services of banks and ATMs at some point. There is no other alternative available except banks and post offices to secure their cash amounts. Even if such banks are closed for a single day, operations worth hundreds of crores of rupees will be frozen. Excluding normal holidays.. its severity is seen in strikes and bandhs.
Meanwhile, Reserve Bank of India issues the complete list of bank holidays in the last week of every month. This time also continued the tradition. It has released a complete list of bank holidays across the country for the entire month of September.
The Reserve Bank generally announces bank holidays in three categories. One- Negotiable Instruments Act, Two- Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, Three- Banks Closing of Accounts. Out of these three, general holidays apply under the first category.
- 1st September – Sunday. It will be implemented simultaneously in all states.
- 7th September – Vinayaka Chavithi. Banks in all states across the country will have a holiday at the same time.
- 8th September – Holiday on Sunday. On the same day, the Nuwakhai festival is also celebrated in Odisha.
- 13th September will be a bank holiday in Rajasthan to mark Ramdev Jayanti/Teja Dashami.
- 14th is the day of Onam. A major festival for Malayalis. Apart from Kerala, all states across the country have a holiday for banks.
- 16th is Eid-e-Milad. All states have bank holidays.
- Banks in Sikkim were given a holiday on 17th to celebrate Indra Jatra.
- 18th – RBI has declared a holiday for banks in Kerala due to the birth anniversary of Sri Narayanaguru.
- 21st is a holiday as it is the day Narayan Guru attained Jivasamadhi.
- 22nd September – Sunday is a holiday.
- Bank holiday has been declared in Haryana as the 23rd is Martyrs’ Memorial Day.
- Fourth Saturday 28th, Holiday Sunday 29th.
The Reserve Bank has suggested that customers should plan their programs keeping in mind the respective holidays.
