China and Russia reacted to the results of the US Presidential Elections. China has expressed that it will respect the choice of the American people.
Expressed hope for continuing peaceful relations with America. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said that China-US relations will continue to be based on the principles of mutual respect and cooperation. However, he responded to the US election results without directly mentioning the name of Donald Trump.
Although Russian President Vladimir Putin did not respond to Trump’s victory, Kremlin officials responded. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said they had no information about Putin thanking Donald Trump. However, America is seen as Russia’s adversary. He said that we are talking about a country that is directly and indirectly involved in the war going on against their country.
Responding to the question that Russian President Putin’s non-congratulation to Trump will damage the relationship, he said that the Russian-American relationship is already at its worst stage in history. He said that it is up to the new leadership of America to change these conditions. Recalling the comments made by Trump during the campaign that he would end wars, he said that there is a possibility that those comments will change once he wins the election and enters the Oval Office.
