US tech layoffs : A job in America is now becoming a nightmare for Indian youth. As the recession hits, tech companies there are laying off employees on a large scale.
Recession is the reason.. Artificial intelligence is booming but no one’s jobs are guaranteed. In this financial year, major IT companies in America have already laid off at least one and a half lakh people. Most of them are Indians. This effect is mostly on the respective families.
No jobs – more layoffs
There are millions of Indians who go to study in American universities. No one wants to go there and study and come back again. They want to get a job and settle down before completing their studies there. Until recently if you go to America once.. it was an easy way.. but not now. Now, while the creation of new jobs is low, the lay offs are increasing. The share of Indians is high among those who lose their jobs. While the new entrants are not getting jobs, the situation of the old employees is becoming difficult.
If you lose your job, 60 days will not pass
H1B visas are more common for those working in the US. Because.. no matter how long you stay in America.. if you get a green card.. you can stay in America even if you have a job or not. Any visa has a time limit. H1B visa holders have no problem as long as they have a job. But if you lose your job, you have to leave the country within sixty days. If you get another job before this, you can continue. Otherwise, you have to leave. Recently changes were made to shorten it to sixty days. Those who have lost their jobs due to job cuts will have to come to India if they do not get a job within sixty days.
Tension for H1B visa holders
Those who have gone to America for education and employment want to settle there. That’s why.. they apply for green card as soon as they are eligible according to the rules. But now the green card waiting list is up to 190 years. America has strict rules on how many people can get a green card. They don’t want to give a green card because they are twenty years old in America. If you apply according to your eligibility, you will get a green card in a sequential manner. As Indians are growing up, it is becoming impossible to get such opportunities. That’s why you should stay in America on H1b.
It is a situation where parents and family members cannot feel comfortable that our children are in America. Being in America, the youth fell into a situation where they were stressed about their job.
