Latest News in India: Delhi’s new Chief Minister, Atishi, took charge on Monday but had to withdraw her first signed order within hours. According to sources, barely hours after taking her oath as CM, Atishi issued an order appointing a 1994-batch IAS officer as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to the Chief Minister.
The order, placed in the highest pay grade of Pay Level 17, was sent for approval to the Lieutenant Governor (LG). It was returned with the clarification that there was no sanctioned ACS-level post available to serve on the CM’s personal staff. According to the protocol, the Chief Minister can place a Principal Secretary-level officer at most in this position. Upon receiving this feedback, CM Atishi pulled back the file.
As per the sources, Atishi had issued the order without consulting the officer she decided to appoint as her ACS.
