Business Updates: Wearables and audio brand Boat said on Tuesday that it has crossed the production milestone of more than five crore products in India. It now manufactures between 70 percent and 75 percent of its audio and smart wearable products locally as part of its commitment to the government-backed ‘Make in India’ initiative.
“Crossing the five crore mark in Made in India products is an important milestone for us at Boat,” said the business’s co-founder and CEO, Sameer Mehta, in a statement. It resonates with our commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and belief in the ‘Make in India’ capabilities of Indian manufacturing. We are proud to be contributing towards the nation’s economic growth and job creation.”. This requires a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication that our team, partners, and entire family at Boat Head have put into it.
With the help of its joint venture with Dixon Technologies and Califonix, the company has been able to scale up production in India. Besides, the JV has helped generate scores of new jobs within the country; it has also aided Boat in strengthening its supply chain operations.
It, however, said that it remains fully committed to contributing to the nation’s economic growth and will continue to focus on domestic production to the best of its capabilities. Boat also said that it would continue to centre its research and development activities in India, following up on the launch of Boat Labs as an innovation centre.
