Many are stuck, not knowing how to get out of this. According to the Finance Survey, the number of people suffering from obesity has increased lately. According to the organizers of the survey, obesity, regardless of sex, had increased extraordinarily in both men and women. There had been a survey conducted about obesity among men and women aged 18–69 years.
An organization by the name of National Family Health has conducted a pan-India survey on obesity. The results show that an average of 22.9 percent of males are facing obesity in the country. This has gone up by 4 percent as compared to 18.9 percent earlier. Obesity in women has also increased from 20.6 percent to 24 percent. Delhi tops the list of states suffering from obesity, followed by Tamil Nadu. In Delhi, it is 41.3 percent among women and 38 percent among men.
Not just that, 37 percent of men and 40.4 percent of women are suffering from obesity in Tamil Nadu. In Andhra Pradesh, 36.3 percent of women and 31.1 percent of men are obese. The survey concluded that 30.1 percent of women and 32.3 percent of men are obese in Telangana. According to the survey, obesity has increased, and this phenomenon is more common in urban areas. Throughout the period of NFHS-5 (2019–2021), obesity has increased quite a bit due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and limited physical activities because of the lockdown.
