Latest News in India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Neeraj Chopra to congratulate him for the silver at the Paris Olympics on Friday. Modi congratulated Chopra on his great performance and winning a second successive Olympic medal which made the country proud of him.
Modi congratulated and said, “You played so well.” During the conversation with Mr Chopra, PM Modi said, “Many, many congratulations to you, Neeraj. You have once again made the country proud. Last night, even at 1 am, crores of people were watching you with hope.”
Chopra expressed his disappointment at missing gold despite his efforts. He said that he could not push himself fully because of his injuries and the competition was tough. He added, “I am still happy to get a medal for my country in these circumstances. There are ups and downs in sport.”
The Prime Minister asked more about his injury and appreciated his mother’s sportive nature as well, thus thanking her for her support throughout the journey.
PM Modi also took the appreciation to X and tweeted, “Neeraj Chopra is excellence personified! Time and again he’s shown his brilliance. India is elated that he comes back with yet another Olympic success,” he added, “He will continue to motivate countless upcoming athletes to pursue their dreams and make our nation proud.”
