Holi 2024 Protection Tips: Celebrate Holi, the festival of colors, with joy and laughter, but don’t forget to protect your skin and hair. Dr. Charu Sharma, Co-founder and director of dermatology at Cureskin, shares six tips for a worry-free Holi experience.
Holi 2024 Protection Tips:
1. Oil up for easy removal: Apply coconut or almond oil generously to your body and hair before playing Holi. This creates a protective barrier, making it easier to remove colors later without staining your skin or hair.
2. Moisturize and use sunscreen: Prep your skin with moisturizer or sunscreen to combat the drying effects of Holi colors. Apply a thick layer on exposed areas like your face, arms, and neck, and don’t forget sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher for sun protection.
3. Protect your nails and lips: Apply clear nail polish and lip balm to shield your nails and lips from color pigments, preventing staining. After the festivities, cleanse and moisturize your nails and lips for a healthy, stain-free finish.
4. TLC for your hair: Use a gentle, color-safe shampoo to remove color without stripping natural oils. Follow up with a deep conditioning mask to restore moisture and manageability, protecting your hair from harsh Holi colors.
5. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water before, during, and after Holi to keep your skin hydrated and flush out toxins from the colors. This will help you stay energized throughout the day, especially in the hot weather.
6. Choose organic colors: Opt for organic colors made from natural ingredients for a safe and eco-friendly celebration. These colors are gentle on the skin and environment, reducing the risk of allergies and pollution for a joyful and sustainable Holi experience.
