Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will not be returning to host the third season of the popular reality show Bigg Boss OTT. The reason for his departure is his commitment to his upcoming film project, Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss.
Stepping into Salman’s shoes, the dynamic Anil Kapoor will be taking over as the host for the upcoming season. A source revealed, “Salman is focused on prepping for his new film Sikandar, set to start shooting in June, which has led him to step down from his hosting duties for Bigg Boss OTT.” Additionally, Salman felt that his recurring role as host might become repetitive for the audience, given his ongoing presence on the television version of Bigg Boss.

Another insider confirmed Anil Kapoor’s new role, stating, “Anil Kapoor will bring his own quirks and trademark wit to the show, promising a fresh and exciting season.” The change was subtly hinted at in a promo released by Jio Cinema on Instagram. The minute-long announcement ends with a voiceover saying, “Yeh season hoga khaas ekdum jhakaas,” using the term ‘jhakaas,’ which is famously associated with Anil Kapoor.
Anil Kapoor expressed his enthusiasm for hosting Bigg Boss OTT, eager to infuse the show with his unique style. This change aligns with the trend of featuring a new host each season, keeping the show vibrant and unpredictable.
What’s Bigg Boss OTT All About?
Bigg Boss OTT is a spin-off of the widely popular Indian reality TV show Bigg Boss. The first season, which premiered in 2021 and was hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, streamed on Voot. Divya Agarwal emerged as the winner of the inaugural season. Salman Khan took over hosting duties for the second season in 2023, where influencer Elvish Yadav won, with Abhishek Malhan as the runner-up.
