Shilpa Shetty is getting ready for the release of her action cop series, “Indian Police Force,” alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Vivek Oberoi. She recently shared the reason behind taking on this project.
In the upcoming action cop drama, “Indian Police Force” Shilpa Shetty portrays the character of Tara Shetty. This marks her second project with the streaming platform after “Sukhee.” Before the release of the Rohit Shetty series, Shilpa Shetty explained why she chose to be a part of it.
During an interview with News18 Showsha, Shilpa Shetty revealed that her 11-year-old son, Viaan Raj Kundra, is a big fan of Rohit Shetty’s films and is eagerly looking forward to “Indian Police Force.” She mentioned, “My daughter (Samisha Shetty Kundra) is too young. She isn’t even allowed to watch television. She’s just three-and-a-half. Viaan has just about started watching movies in the last three years. And he loves Rohit’s films. He has now become an avid Bollywood watcher.”
The actress further explained that she took on Rohit’s cop series for Viaan and to honor all the women serving in the forces. She added, “I did ‘Indian Police Force’ for Viaan along with all the women in our forces who put in so much unconditional and selfless work. This series is an ode to my son.”
In the same interview, Shilpa revealed the scheduling challenges between Indian Police Force and her 2023 film “Sukhee.” To manage the clash of dates, she spoke to the director of Sukhee and flew back to Mumbai for a four-day schedule. She said I left Chandigarh and flew to Mumbai to shoot ‘Indian Police Force,’ went back to Chandigarh, shot for ‘Sukhee,’ and then came to Mumbai again to shoot for the show for three days. Meanwhile, she also juggled shooting for a reality TV show.
Recently, the highly anticipated trailer of “Indian Police Force” was released, featuring dynamic action sequences and impactful dialogues. The series revolves around the Delhi police force tackling terrorists and criminals.
Shilpa Shetty drew inspiration for her role from Kiran Bedi, stating, “Kiran Bediji has such gravitas, a fierce personality. She was so passionate about what she did when she was in that position; hence I have a huge amount of respect for her.” The technical aspects of the character took some time for Shilpa to grasp.
“Indian Police Force” is created and directed by Rohit Shetty and Sushwanth Prakash. Making its digital debut, the series stars Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Nikitin Dheer, Shweta Tiwari, and Sharad Kelkar. It is set to premiere on January 19, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video.
Apart from “Indian Police Force” Shilpa Shetty is also part of the Kannada action film “KD – The Devil,” following her comeback in acting with the slice-of-life comedy-drama “Sukhee” last year.
