Andhra Pradesh latest news : The Andhra Pradesh government has ordered a high-level inquiry into the fire that broke out in the Madanapalle sub-collector’s office of Annamaiya district. The government suspects vandalism in this incident.
Computers, furniture and important files were burnt in the fire. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu ordered DGP CH Dwaraka Tirumala Rao to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
Speaking to the media, the DGP concluded that there is no short-circuit angle. ‘One thing is very clear, this was not an accident, but an incident. 22A files, key documents related to assigned lands, birth and death certificates, section related to alienation of lands were burnt. We suspect that there is a conspiracy behind this incident,” he said.
The DGP said that some fresh matches were found near the window and a pile of burnt files was recovered 50 meters away. He clarified that SPDCAL officials have given a report that there is no possibility of short circuit and voltage difference in the department.
“Immediately after the incident, Revenue Divisional Officer, Madanapalle CI did not immediately inform his superiors. All these elements indicate acts of vandalism. We have formed a 10-member team to investigate the case. A further decision will be taken on transfer of the case to the CBI by Thursday,” said the DGP.
On July 23, a huge fire broke out in the east side of the office. The security guard noticed the smoke and informed the deputy tehsildar of Nimmanapalle mandal. By the time the authorities and the fire department arrived, the property under Madanapalle Revenue Division, necessary documents related to land acquisition, land allotment and various government departments were destroyed as the fire spread rapidly.
Police have registered a case for further investigation. Meanwhile, some officials and locals have expressed serious doubts about the destruction of the Madanapalle Sub-Collector’s office. In the last five years, there have been allegations of unauthorized land acquisition and corruption under the YSRCP government.
