Srinagar : Four jawans including an army officer were martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda. The Indian Army and the local police launched a joint operation at 7.45 pm on Monday after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the Desa forest area of Doda district.
In this sequence, four army personnel and the police were seriously injured in the exchange of fire between the terrorists and the security personnel. Officials said that the army officer and three other jawans died when they were rushed to the hospital.
The Indian Army X announced that the encounter started around 9 pm and heavy firing took place. It is said that the firing took place for more than 20 minutes. Many of the injured are said to be in serious condition. Officials said the operation is still ongoing. The Kashmir Tigers of Pakistan’s terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, this is the second big encounter in Jammu region in a week. It is known that five soldiers were killed in the exchange of fire in Kathua last week. Five other jawans were injured.
